Our story

GreenChem Oy was established by a team of industry professionals who saw a clear opportunity: combine advanced pyrolysis technology with the strength of the forest industry to create a domestic bio-based production chain that is economically sound, environmentally responsible, and genuinely rooted in the place where it operates.

Our production facility in Lieksa is located in close proximity to local sawmills - this is not a coincidence — it is part of our founding principles. The sawmill produces timber. We convert what remains. The result is a circular loop that keeps value, employment and energy within the region.

We entered the market with a carefully selected set of technology partners, each proven at industrial scale. We do not build what others have already built better. We integrate, operate and optimise — and we learn from every production cycle how to do more with the same raw material.

Biofuel is our starting point. The pyrolysis process yields a range of fractions and by-products that, with further refining and development, have the potential to become valuable inputs for other industries. This is the direction we are building — step by step, with the same rigour we apply to our core production.
